bet365 customer funds protection in the UK: what “medium” means

bet365’s UK terms say customer balances and winnings are held in separate designated customer bank accounts. The operator classifies this arrangement at the Gambling Commission’s medium protection level. That label describes insolvency arrangements; it is not a rating of the casino, a payout guarantee or an affiliate recommendation.

Who operates the UK casino product

The terms identify Hillside (UK Gaming) ENC as the entity for Casino, Live Casino, Poker, Games and Bingo, with Gambling Commission account number 55149. The Commission’s public register lists bet365.com against that gaming entity. Both sources were checked on 28 September 2026.

What bet365 says happens to customer money

According to the operator, customer funds are kept in designated accounts for placing stakes and settling related fees or charges. The terms say the bank has acknowledged that these balances are not to be mixed with other funds and that the bank has no claim on them.

bet365 states that, in an insolvency, those funds would remain customer property rather than pass to a liquidator. It describes the arrangement as meeting the Gambling Commission’s medium-protection requirements.

“Medium” is not the highest category

The Gambling Commission explains three disclosure levels: no protection, medium protection and high protection. Medium means the business has arrangements intended to protect customer money if it fails, but recovery is not described by the regulator as absolutely guaranteed. High protection uses a structure legally separate from the business and controlled independently.

The useful comparison is therefore the published category and the actual wording in the operator’s terms, not a vague claim that funds are simply “safe”.

The purpose is to show how a UK operator’s insolvency disclosure can be checked against its terms and the public register. Licence status and account-protection language can change, so readers should repeat both checks before acting.
